I love Yuletide. I was in on the ground floor the year that it was rare pairings instead of rare fandoms, and since then I've only missed one year (when I was going to be flying overseas on Deadline Day, and didn't trust myself to get it finished early.) So yeah. I love Yuletide. I hope you do, too.
My requests this year are all rather shippy. That said, I'm okay with Gen in any of them, it's just that fandom in general tends shippy, and I tend specifically femslashy (as you'll know if you've looked at my fic at all.)
Fandom-specific-wise, I have the following comments:
Blue Bloods - Bliss, Schuyler
Like I said in my sign up, I love Bliss/Schuyler despite the fact that as of the end of Masquerade, it's actually half-sister incest. I'm also entirely happy with Mimi/Bliss, and even Mimi/Schuyler, and if you're feeling adventurous, you could go with all three of them. I'd rather that any relationships be f/f: I certainly don't like Schuyler/Oliver as a romantic concept, although I can see the pairing right there waiting to be written. I've got all the books that have been published, and I don't think that I care all that much about spoilers, so go for it. I'd love to have read at least another of them by Christmas, given that they're sitting there waiting (and given that I have a talk on "books with bite" to do at work in January.)
Mary Poppins: the musical, George/Bert
My GF is horrified that I requested this, but I swear it was there. Maybe it was just the way that Philip Quast and Matt-with-the-hat [Matt Lee] played the roles, but there's totally pre-slash sitting right there, waiting to be written. I'm incredibly picky about my m/m pairings, and this isn't one that I'm willing to think about onscreen, which is why the request for pre-slash. I'd just love there to be some further exploration of what goes on in George's head in the musical - he's so very much more REAL in this, than he is in either the books or the movie. He's got actual character development! And when Bert is helping him pick up the gingerbread stars (and essentially helping him to pick up the pieces of his life) it just... gets to me. That's what I want from this request.
Dykes to Watch Out For, Toni/Clarice
With this one I'm not sure what I can add to my sign up. I know my request doesn't fit with canon. I know they'd be cursing President Obama from here to, well, Timbuktu? (Which is why I've asked for, of all things, politics to be left OUT of a DTWOF fic. I know. It's practically an oxymoron. What can I say, I'm a citizen living abroad - I'm shallow like that?) Anyway. Feel free to bring in any and all other characters as you wish. I'll even happily accept some Ginger. Basically, I love all of them. Just especially Clarice and Toni.
Chalet School, Hilda/Nell
My favourite CS pairings are Hilda/Nell, Kathy/Nancy, and Bride/Tom. I can also more than cope with Len/Ros, or in fact Joan/Vic, as long as Vic is actually Victoria. Gen is also perfectly acceptable. Seriously. I love and adore this series (no Joey bashing, please! I first got to know the adult!Joey and thus I love her as much as Joey-baba from the earlier books) and the only thing I don't think I can cope with is "CS Girls Grow Up"-style or m/m. I really don't think I can cope with CS m/m. But in general, CS fic is love, and whatever you write I will hug and kiss and call George. :-)
Seriously - my final sentence in relation to CS counts for all my requests. Whatever you write I will hug and kiss and call George (so to speak.) I've never been disappointed by Yuletide yet, and while I say that, I don't want that to make you worry. I want it to make you confident. I will love what you write, dear Yulebuck. Go forth, write, and add to the fannish squee out there in the world!
