How awesome is the new Kudos button on the archive? Yay for the removal of feedback performance anxiety!

Meanwhile, here is the beautemous story that was written for me:

The Start of a Beautiful Friendship (1419 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Chalet School - Elinor M. Brent-Dyer
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Hilda Annersley, Nell Wilson
Summary:

The beginning of an enduring partnership...

(Also, how awesome is the "Share" button!)

Yay Yuletide!

Dear Julebuck

I love Yuletide. I was in on the ground floor the year that it was rare pairings instead of rare fandoms, and since then I've only missed one year (when I was going to be flying overseas on Deadline Day, and didn't trust myself to get it finished early.) So yeah. I love Yuletide. I hope you do, too.

My requests this year are all rather shippy. That said, I'm okay with Gen in any of them, it's just that fandom in general tends shippy, and I tend specifically femslashy (as you'll know if you've looked at my fic at all.)

Fandom-specific-wise, I have the following comments:

Blue Bloods )

Mary Poppins: the musical )

Dykes to Watch Out For )

Chalet School )

Seriously - my final sentence in relation to CS counts for all my requests. Whatever you write I will hug and kiss and call George (so to speak.) I've never been disappointed by Yuletide yet, and while I say that, I don't want that to make you worry. I want it to make you confident. I will love what you write, dear Yulebuck. Go forth, write, and add to the fannish squee out there in the world!

I want to apologise, here and now, to the unfortunate person who is the recipient of my story. I wrote in a fandom in which I ought to be - and am - comfortable. And yet all I could manage was nonsense and utter fluff.

And so, dear recipient, I apologies. You deserve better than this. I'm sorry.

Bugger, bugger, Yuletide, kicking my ass, etc.

Not happy, Jan.
sangerin: (nano plot)
- My NaNo is past the 35k mark. I'm feeling as though winning is possible, despite the mocking of all those purple Winner bars on the site (they're worse than the green ones. By a lot). But I'm going to spend my 750 words right now writing my Yuletide letter, because its absence was noted. (Oops). And then I'll get back to writing the Seven of Nine story that is threatening to take over the earth. (You'd never believe she's my least favourite character.)

OUT: Enid Blyton - Malory Towers (it had already been nominated before I did)

IN: Dykes to Watch Out For - because as much as I can't imagine writing it, I kinda want to request it.

Yuletide!

So, at the same time that I'm getting keyed up for Nano, Yuletide nominations have opened!!

I have nominated the following:

Elsie J Oxenham - The Abbey Girls
Enid Blyton - The Malory Towers series
Mary Poppins (musical)
Melissa de la Cruz - The Blue Bloods series
MI-5 aka Spooks
Ornen aka The Eagle

Here comes Yuletide, everybody!
